Thanks for the website Doug. That saloon may be the one that my relatives owned in the 1890s and early 1900s. My GG Grandfather Patrick William Cadegan owned a saloon there where he held court sometimes. I believe he passed it on to his daughter Mary Ann and her husband. He also owned a meat market in Brayton in 1891.

I thought that the old photos were pretty interesting. There seems to be more history to central Nebraska that I had previously thought. ;D

There seems to be more history to central Nebraska that I had previously thought. ;D Greeley County has an absolutely wonderful and exciting history attached to it. Not many people went westward without crossing this beautiful state, and some of them stayed...some in Greeley County...even if only for a while. One of the first reads on Greeley County should be The Pioneer History of Greeley County be Edith Swain McDermott. It may not be considered the best, or the most complete, but it certainly gives a great perspective on the travails of the settlers to this beautiful part of Nebraska.
